About Street Net Youth Service
Street Net is designed to increase opportunities available to disengaged young people commencing secondary education, up to 18 years of age, including Aboriginal and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse youth.
Street Net provides early intervention, diversional and recreational activities, and case management for young people who are at risk, through centre based and outreach services. The service aims to prevent the risks to young people from escalating, and utilises strategies to divert young people away from high risk situations that may impact on their safety.
A positive strengths-based approach to service delivery assists young people to build on their skills and abilities, and develop resilience to potential risks. Street Net offers intensive support to young people with high needs and challenging behaviours, who may be exposed to multiple risks.
The service supports young people with a variety of issues including accommodation, family conflict and violence, drug and alcohol issues, truancy, offending and anti-social behaviour, education, employment and health.
The service is involved in running a number of programs aimed at increasing participation of at risk youth in the community.
